Priorities
The first and greatest of all privileges of a Brother is to be a Brother; to have accepted the Law, to have become free and independent,
to have destroyed all fear, whether of custom, or of faith, or of other men, or of death itself.
-Liber CI:44
Our most notable priority as a community is a desire to give each person their best possible O.T.O. experience, whether it be through our radical hospitality, studious discourse, original rituals, festive celebrations, or dedicated promulgation of the Law of Thelema.
Whatever our individual will may prove to be, we seek to nourish the passions and fan the flames of its pursuit, through a tolerance and understanding not offered in many North Texas communities. We are guided in this through our shared acceptance of the Law of Thelema as handed down to us by Aleister Crowley, but also through a devotion to the mission statement given to us by the United States Grand Lodge of Ordo Templi Orientis, which clearly states:
Mission Statement
Our mission is to effect and promote the doctrines and practices of the philosophical and religious system known as Thelema, with particular emphasis on cultivating the ideals of individual liberty, self-discipline, self-knowledge, and universal brotherhood. To this end, we conduct sacramental and initiatory rites, offer guidance and instruction to our members, organize social events, and engage in educational and community service activities at locations throughout the United States.
and through our shared values...
Values Statement
The Values Statement clarifies the principles underlying U.S. Grand Lodge planning and operations. All our policies, initiatives, and other decisions must adhere to these principles. They are the ethical basis of our work.
We support the liberty of the individual and the cultivation of self-respect, self-knowledge, self-discipline, and self-responsibility.
We affirm the bonds of fraternity and expect fidelity, frankness, cooperation, mutual aid, and good faith among our members.
We value hospitality in our community and promote peace, tolerance, truth, and respect to the Order within our temples and precincts.
We advocate the principles of Scientific Religion and Universal Brotherhood, and oppose tyranny, superstition, and oppression.
We accept and uphold the Law of Thelema as promulgated in the Book of the Law and the writings of the Prophet of the Aeon, Aleister Crowley.
We believe that a membership free from unfair discrimination is essential to accomplishing our Mission, and reject doctrines that promote bigotry, prejudice, and intolerance.
